The nomination list for the 2023 Oscars are in and Nigerian superstar Tems has made history, as the first and only Nigerian artiste to earn an Oscar nomination.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” received five nominations, one of which was for “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from the film’s soundtrack.
The song which was written by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Oscar winner Ludwig Goransson received an Oscar Award nomination for Best Original Song.
This nomination for Tems comes after the Golden Globe awards nomination in December 2022 and also the Grammy awards 2023 nominations in November 2022.
Just so you know, indie sci-fi comedy drama, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ led with eleven nominations, followed by ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ and ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ with nine nominations each.
Other nominations include, ‘Elvis’ with eight nods, ‘The Fabelmans’ with seven, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Tar’ with six nominations each, and ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ with four nominations.
The 95th Academy Awards is scheduled to hold on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theater and it will be hosted by comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
