I decided to participate in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2021 because I had a nudge in my spirit towards the end of the year 2020. It was like God wanted me to go to the pageant.

I was not very sure which pageant he wanted me to contest. I just knew he (God) wanted me to be in Nigeria in a big competition. I prayed for direction and went on with it.

Also, recall that I had wanted to be in a pageant when I was just five years old. But moving to the United States seemed like it was a dream that I would not be able to accomplish anymore.

Thankfully, when I had the nudge in my spirit, it made me pursue my dreams passionately like I always do in my other endeavours.

Winning the most beautiful girl in Nigeria title is like a dream come through and just bearing the title is very exciting and fulfilling.

You are handing over your crown in two days, How does it feel?

It’s bittersweet, the bitter part is that of course, you will want to keep your crown forever because why not the sweet part is also just seeing my success and hoping she does better than I did, that’s one thing I am very invested in.

Pouring out what I have learned to her, a kind of mentorship that I hope to have with her and guide her and hopefully she does better.

I am really excited honestly just standing on stage and my speech playing behind me and I am just waving. I will be coming to look pretty and just smile.

Would you have loved to have been mentored by your predecessor?

I personally did reach out to previous queens as well and I got a lot of information. I think that was very helpful and I would love to carry that forward.

I had a little bit of mentorship which is very very good. You can’t be really prepared for what you will need, but at least it will give you a little bit of caution and point you in the right direction.

Would you be going back to nursing?

I am currently a travel nurse, and working for different organisations has been a blessing.

The reason nursing was included in my journey was that when my dad died, he had a journal documenting people that had made an impact on his life in his final days battling leukaemia. I realised that a lot of people he wrote about were nurses who made an impact on his life.

Knowing that gave me another direction because I just wanted to make that kind of impact.

That was simply my greatest motivation; I wanted to be an intensive care unit nurse, to be there for patients, family and friends during such a trying time in their life.  I am a registered nurse.
