Having been nominated for the Grammys several times in five years without a win, Afrobeat singer Femi Kuti has opened up about his serial nominations.
In a chat with TVC, let’s take a look at what he had to say. He also spoke about The Headies, which was hosted this year in America.
Just so you know, Femi Kuti has been nominated four times, in 2002, 2009, 2011, and 2013 for a Grammy Award in the Best World Music Album category, while this year’s Grammys, he was nominated alongside his son, Made in the Best Global Music Album category and Best Global Music Performance category respectively.
Recall that early this year Femi Kuti was one of the Nigerians who did not bag any award at the last Grammy held on April 3, 2022.
One Twitter user took to the platform to joke about how the singer is likely to react if he gets nominated again next year.
The fan posted a popular PawPaw meme where the actor said: “Why are you wasting my life for Christ’s sake.”
Reacting to the tweet, Femi Kuti wrote, “I laughed die meanwhile congratulations to @angeliquekidjo ”
