It was gathered that the sons chopped off their father’s hand in order to rustle his cattle and sell them off.
The herders, Bello Usman and Shehu Abubakar were said to have conspired with two others to carry out the act.
While the other hand was almost severed and wrapped, one hand had been entirely severed.
They have been arraigned by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and causing grievous harm.
The suspects, who admitted to the crime, said that they had attempted to rustle their father’s livestock, but he had stopped them, forcing them to cut off his hand instead.
However, the other two accomplices are on the run but their guardians were summoned by the court and told to produce the suspects on the next adjourned date.
They must stay in police custody until September 26 per order from Minna Chief Magistrate Fati Hassan Umar.
The injured man was taken from the hospital, where he was receiving treatment, to court.
