American movie star Nicolas Cage is a dad again, as his wife, Riko Shibata has given birth to a baby girl.
Nicolas Cage and Wife Riko Shibata Welcome First Child Together
A statement released by a representative of the couple reads, “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter. Mother and daughter are doing fine.”
Nicolas and Rico met in Japan in 2020 when he was filming Sion Sono’s Prisoners of Ghostland. She landed a role in the movie playing one of the four Mannequin Women.
After getting engaged on FaceTime, the couple tied the knot at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas in February 2021, which happens to be his fifth marriage.
If you would recall, Nicolas Cage revealed in March that he and his fifth wife Riko were keen to honour his father with their choice of name for the baby. In an interview with GQ at the time, he said they had picked out ‘Augie’ if they were to have a baby girl, the actor said, “Augie was my father’s nickname.”
Just so you know, this newborn is Riko’s first child and Cage’s third, as he is already a dad to sons, sixteen-year-old Kal-El and thirty-one-year-old Weston from previous relationships.
