Nigerian artiste Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable has been disqualified by the organizers of The Headies Awards over the recent controversies that has surrounded his brand.
The Headies Academy announced the withdrawal of the two nominations awarded to Portable in the ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste’, and ‘Rookie of the Year’ category at the 15th edition of the award which is scheduled to hold in September in Atlanta, U.S.A.
In a lengthy statement issued on their social media platforms, it reads, “We regret to announce that following numerous indicting statements made by Mr. Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, and the incessant negative attention that Mr. Okikiola has garnered from the Nigeria police and the general public in recent times, the organizers of the Headies have resolved to disqualify Mr. Okikiola as a nominee at the forthcoming 15th Headies Awards.”
