It was a beautiful moment for Hollywood movies as the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but due to the current pandemic the event was held digitally for the first time.
The ceremony which was hosted virtually by Jimmy Kimmel saw winners accepting their awards remotely, virtually, and digitally.
Big winners of the night include, Canadian riches to rags comedy sitcom “*BLEEP* Creek” which took home seven awards out of fifteen nominations in every comedic category, including lead actress, lead actor, best supporting actor and actress, best writing (episodic), best direction, and best overall comedy.
Superhero drama “Watchmen”, grabbed four awards, including Outstanding Limited Series, and acting trophies for Regina King and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, while “Succession” claimed four awards, which includes Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor for Jeremy Strong, and writing and directing.
Other winners include, Uzo Aduba who won the Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in “Mrs. America”, while Mark Ruffalo took home lead actor for HBO’s “I Know This Much Is True.”
Euphoria star Zendaya became the youngest winner in the drama actress category at age 24, topping Jodie Comer, who was 26 when she won last year for Killing Eve, while Tyler Perry received the Governor’s Award in recognition of his work on inclusivity and philanthropic efforts.
Eddie Murphy won his first Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series For “Saturday Night Live” during the Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys ceremony.
