How Kiss Daniel earned 30k monthly at G-Worldwide

Kiss Daniel’s lawyers has revealed more shocking details about the ongoing legal tussle between the woju crooner, and his former label G-Worldwide.

According to information made available by the management of G-Worldwide Entertainment Limited, The 7 year contract singed with the artiste in 2013, is yet to expire.

Kiss Daniel had left G-Worldwide Entertainment to start his own label and according to the management of his ex-label, Kiss Daniel breached the deal with a series of actions contrary to the provisions of the contract.

However,’L & A Legal consultants’ revealed information about Kiss Daniel’s contract and the terms activated by the singer before the contract was terminated. They said the contract termination was not only in obedience to law and the contract between the parties but also a self-defense by Kiss Daniel to prevent “baboon dey work, monkey dey chop”.

See the statement released by the lawyer :

“Kiss Daniel did not walk out of his contract. He only terminated it as he is permitted to do under the contract. Is it now a sin for a party to exercise a right expressly conferred on him by law/contract? Is it his fault that the contract has a termination clause that allows him to terminate the contract? We should bear in mind that the contract was drafted by G-Worldwide Entertainment. Kiss Daniel scrupulously followed the provision of the contract.

It is unfortunate that people are mixing this case up with that of other artists running away from a contract they signed. No! This is different. This is a case of an Artist insisting that the contract signed by the parties must be obeyed and enforced. Kiss Daniel is firm believer in rule of law and due process.

This was why he went to court first. People should not confuse a case of properly terminated contract with cases of ill-advised artists who angrily walked out of their contract without following the laid down procedure under their contracts. This case is a well thought out act. It is an exercise of the right granted to him by the contract between him and his label. What do people want from Nigerian artist?

Why is G-Worldwide afraid to grant him unrestricted access to his account and books as provided by the contract? The whole relationship between a record label and an artist is about making money and sharing it. Finance and money is the crux of the matter. G-Worldwide did not sign Kiss Daniel because they love his face. They signed him because they think he can make money for them. And there is nothing wrong with that as long as they play by the rules.

The only offence commented by him was his effrontery/impudence by daring to ask his record label to render account! Kiss Daniel through his lawyer L & A – Legal Consultant appointed a firm of Chartered Accountant to inspect and audit G-Worldwide Entertainments books and account in respect of hid project as provided by the contract between the parties.

Immediately the request was made, all hell was let loose. Why will a Record Label be afraid to allow their Artist to inspect their books of record? Especially, when the contract between the parties was drafted by the same record label and the contract contains a clause which specifically provided that the Record Label shall keep all accounts and shall allow the Artist or his representative unrestricted access to inspect and make copies of the records”.

In an exclusively report with LIB, a source who pleaded said;

‘From the beginning of his contract (a 7 years and 5 album contract) he wasn’t placed on any percentage rather Kiss Daniel was placed on a monthly salary of 30,000 (thirty thousand naira) up until ‘Woju’ remix was released then it was later increased to 50,000 (fifty thousand naira) before he insisted on a review of his contract in 2015 and by the second quarter of 2015 he began to receive 40% of his performance fees.

All the while he was collecting 30k, the boy already had a monster hit song ‘Woju’ and was raking in millions of naira’.

He asked for specifics to be sure of the period Kiss Daniel stopped collect 50,000 naira as salary and our source said, ‘I really can’t place the date but I’m sure he was on that salary till after the release of ‘Laye’. The song ‘Laye’ was released in May 2015.

Our investigations also revealed that Kiss Daniel though wasn’t legally barred from collaborations, his record label vehemently stood against it, ‘the label categorically banned him from doing collaborations and made it look like he’s the one avoiding it.

Or have you also seen his label mate, Sugarboy on any collaborations? The industry can testify to it, i won’t mention names but we all know. All the superstars who came to support Kiss Daniel at his album listening party, he couldn’t payback the favour when they needed him because the label prevented him from doing so. Basketmouth even had to block him on Instagram because Kiss was supposed to do a show for him but his label refused and Basketmouth got angry thinking Kiss Daniel was the one playing games with him’.

We further learnt that the relationship between Kiss Daniel and his record label was filled with so much tension, hate, frustration and animosity as our source revealed that, ‘Kiss Daniel couldn’t even make it to his own father’s burial because his label threatened him’.

We asked how? and they said, ‘on the day of his father’s burial, he already had a show that was booked and his label told him they don’t care about his father’s burial but he had to attend the show else he’ll get sued. At that time, Kiss Daniel was still on a monthly salary of 50,000 and two days before his father’s death, his kid brother was also involved in accident that left him unconscious for weeks. The label only gave him 200,000 to buy ‘coffin and fry puff puff’ our source said.

Till date, we gather that Kiss Daniel has made no income from any digital sales of his music, no income from his endorsement apart from the 40% he makes from shows. The label didn’t also provide him with an apartment or cars.

Though he stays in his own house and own a couple of choice rides, we gather that he’s had to pay for the official car that was used to move him around in the early days of the career which has since been given to the younger brother of his recrod label boss, Emperor Geezy.
