A shocking video has been released by Toronto Police command, showing the moment Drake’s close friend was ambushed and gunned down.
Anthony Soares died aged 33 in a hail of bullets when two men opened fire in the entrance of a building in Toronto at around 3am on Thursday September 14.
Toronto Police Service issued the footage as it hunts for suspects. Officers have asked help from members of the public in identifying them.
The shooting took place in the Kennedy Road and Glamorgan Avenue area.
A police spokesperson said the victim got out of a car and walked into the lobby of a building before he was approached by two suspects armed with handguns.
The victim was shot at close range multiple times so that he didn’t stand a chance. The suspects then ran off but not before one of them wiped a door clean of fingerprints. Soares was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.
Drake took to Instagram to mourn the death of his friend. Posting a photo of the guy, he wrote:
“RIP to one of our family members…our brother… I still can’t even believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive ?Forever Fif”
