Nigerian youths have lamented their low participation in governance and political activities compared to other African Countries.
The Chief of Staff Government House Owerri Uche Nwosu in a one day leadership seminar organised by the Youth Assembly of Nigeria said for the country to move forward, youths must be allowed to participate fully in decision making by contributing to policy planning and policy outcome.
According to him, if youths are given the chance in governance, the issue of corruption and other vices that have eaten deep into the fabrics of Nigeria will be put to rest.
He also stated that marginalising the youths in Nigeria is a social as well as a human right issue, adding that countries like Kenya, South Africa and Gambia have overtaken Nigeria in the aspect of youth participation in politics.
