The Senate has explained why it confirmed forty-five out of forty-seven non-career ambassadorial nominees, rejecting the remaining two.
At plenary, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu said the Imo state nominee was arrogant and refused to answer all questions posed to him.
Senate President Bukola Saraki commended the committee and also had a few words of advise for the ambassadors-designate and the Federal Government on conduct and funding issues for Nigerian missions.
With Thursday’s exercise, a total of ninety three ambassadorial nominees have been screened and confirmed by the Senate in line with section 171, sub-section 4 of the 1999 Constitution.
