Acting President Yemi Osibanjo has again reassured the people of Rivers state of the federal government’s commitment to ensuring accelerated growth and development in the state.
Osibanjo gave this assurance when he met with members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Port Harcourt.
TVC News Uche Okoro reports that the meeting was convened barely 24 hours after acting president Yemi Osibanjo engaged stakeholders in Rivers State in discussions at the Government House.
Monday’s town hall meeting was the climax of his visit to the state as part of the ongoing Niger Delta peace talks.
But members of the APC at this other meeting say they were locked out of the event at government House.
The meeting with the acting president also afforded Niger Delta stakeholders from the APC family to make a case for the region.
Responding, the acting president reassured the crowd that the federal government is poised to deliver on all its promises to the oil rich Niger delta.
Acting President Yemi Osibanjo also dismissed insinuations that the federal government has scrapped the amnesty program for repentant militants.
According to him, the current administration at the center has made remarkable provisions for sustenance of the program in order to ensure peace in the Niger delta.
