Senate President Bukola Saraki has expressed his displeasure with the ministry of transportation for embarking on the renovation of the Abuja airport runway without budgetary allocation.
Saraki disclosed this while hosting the Governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani-Bello who led federal lawmakers from the state on a visit to the Senate leadership
The Governor had come to seek the Senate President’s cooperation for repairs of Suleija to Minna highway and designation of Minna as alternate airport to Abuja.
TVC News Sumner Sambo reports that Senate President Bukola Saraki is obviously not happy with the federal government’s preparation to renovate the Abuja airport runway without budgetary allocation.
At this meeting with Niger State Governor Abubakar Bello, he also insists that planning procedures in the government need an update
He discloses that the highway from Suleija to Minna should have been renovated since the Minna Airport was originally designed to serve as alternate airport to Abuja
Saraki assured Governor Sani-Bello and Niger federal lawmakers that he would work hard to ensure that the Suleija to Minna highway is fixed among other demands.
Leaders of the delegation speak on other demands made.
The delegation had earlier informed Saraki that they are seeking that the Minna airport be added to Kaduna airport as the two alternatives for airlines when the runway of the Abuja airport is shutdown next month for repairs.
