TVC E. After being arraigned for stealing phones at Computer Village, Seun Egbegbe, a Nollywood filmmaker, says he knows nothing about the crime he’s being tried for.
Egbegbe was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja magistrate’s court, Lagos for stealing nine iPhone 6s from Kaaltex Innovation Consultancy, a gadget store in Computer Village, Lagos.
In a statement released by Bidemi Amzat, his publicist, the filmmaker noted that he was not remanded at Kirikiri prison, Apapa, Lagos.
“Special Appreciation to you all! Following the public allegation about the news/publication on social media that Mr Seun Egbegbe was remanded at kirikiri prison, we will authoritatively inform the general public that Mr Seun Egbegbe of Ebony Films Productions was granted bail on Thursday 24th November, 2016 by the magistrate court in Lagos with adjournment of case till February 18th, 2017.”
He thanked the police and his fans for the support given to him thus far.
“I am not presently at Kirikiri prison as alleged by some reporters, since the beginning of the whole drama because I know nothing about it and God bears my witness,” Seun Egbegbe was quoted to have said.
“Special thanks to the Nigeria Police Force for their investigative intervention, media practitioners, and my loving fans worldwide. Thanks for your support & concern. Good things will never seize[cease] in our homes.”
The former boyfriend of Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu was Tuesday arrested and beaten by a mob in the process of stealing the phones. Following his arrest, he denied being in police custody and also said he wasn’t attempting to steal the phones when he was accosted.
