A bill that seeks to establish a Nigerian Political Parties Debate Commission to make it compulsory for presidential and governorship candidates to debate during election campaign periods has passed second reading in the Senate.
The bill is sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, representing Oyo North and was first read in October last year.
Senators who debated the bill said organising debates for contestants during elections would provide a platform for citizens to make informed choices on those to govern them.
