]The House of Representatives is to investigate the estimated billing system of electricity distribution companies in the country. Its committee on Power is also mandated to delegate a team to visit Amukoko area of Lagos state to avert a breakdown of law and order as a result of alleged indiscriminate billing by the distribution company in the
area.
The motion by Representative Rita Orji detailed that there is no love lost between the electricity distribution company in the area and power consumers over outrageous billing system.
The legislator raised concern that while the company has withdrawn its services to the area, crime is on the increase as a result of a perpetual blackout.
Her submission sparked similar outbursts from her colleagues, some of whom called for a probe into the estimated billing system adopted by electricity distribution companies.
