The amendment of the code of conduct bureau and tribunal act has passed third reading in the senate despite opposition by Senate Leader, Ali Ndume and other senators of the All Progressives Congress.
Senators from the Peoples Democratic Party defeated their APC counterparts during plenary presided over by Deputy senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
If the act is amended, the Chairman’s tenure will be reduced from 70 years to just one term of five years which can only be renewed once.
The President will also be relieved of his power to exercise authority over the CCB/CCT as this will be transferred to the National assembly.
