Mudslide kills one at an illegal Shanty in Lagos

A mudslide on illegal shanties at Mechanic Village in Agidingbi, Lagos, has killed one person.

The Emergency Response Team, that rushed to the area after a distress call, found out that three people were trapped in the mud.

Two were rescued, but one died.

The General Manager of the Lagos Emergency Management Agency, Michael Akindele describes the area as a wet land and a buffer zone which is not habitable for human settlement.

But people have continued living there, despite sensitization by the government.
