The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has denied a report making the rounds that the party has engaged in the trade-off of its choice of governorship candidates in Edo and Ondo states, as a way of resolving the leadership tussle between its two factional leaders, Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff.
In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Banji Okunomo, the PDP insisted that Eyitayo Jegede remained the candidate of the party for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
The party alleged that the supporters of the Accord Party took to the social media to announce that the Edo State governorship candidature had been ceded to the Makarfi faction while that of Ondo was given to the Sheriff faction with Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate.
He noted that Jimoh Ibrahim was a chieftain of the Accord Party and has no business in the PDP, adding that the party had an effective mechanism for resolving any internal dispute.
