The Godwin Obaseki campaign organisation has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of infiltrating the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to rig next Wednesday’s governorship election in Edo State.
The campaign body of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election addressed the media in
Benin City today and made claims to this effect.
Correspondent Carl Ofonye reports that the deputy director general of the Godwin Obaseki campaign organisation was the person that briefed the media in the ancient city and claimed he has evidence that the PDP is in league with the electoral umpire to subvert the will of the people of Edo State on the 28th of September 2016.
John Osakwe also raised an alarm over what he termed importation of militant Ijaw Youths into Edo State by PDP big wigs to cause mayhem and intimidate APC supporters during the election.
Osakwe’s claim was corroborated by one time governorship candidate in Delta State and Patron of Ijaw Youths Council, Collins Eselomo.
All efforts to get the reaction of PDP in Edo State over these allegations proved abortive. Calls I made repeatedly to the Chairman of the party, Dan Orbih were not answered, while his secretary’s number did not connect at all.
