TVC E. A member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Sunday Karim, was yesterday 11th of August, prevented from travelling out of the country by operatives of the Department of State Services(DSS).
The federal lawmaker was on his way to the United States of America.
He was about boarding a flight operated by Air France when he was stopped at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Karim, representing Yagba East and West Federal Constituency, said he was on his way to the United States of America when his passport was seized by the DSS operatives at the airport.
Karim who is a PDP lawmaker said he was not informed that he was being trailed by the DSS. He said when he inquired why he was stopped from flying, he was told that the EFCC asked the DSS to stop him. The lawmaker said the EFCC had never written to him informing him that they were investigating him.
He added: “EFCC said I cannot travel.
“Nigeria has become such a lawless country?
“If you have issues, you would call me and get a statement from me.
“I find it difficult to believe that we’re still under a democratic government.
“They have seized my passport and I am going back to my house now.”
