The Senate has shut down its activities for one week till May 12 in solidarity with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is holding its executive congresses nationwide.
But before that, a mild drama ensued on the floor of the chamber when Senate President, Bukola Saraki, temporarily appointed Senator Oluremi Tinubu as an acting Chief Whip of the Senate for about thirty minutes due to the absence of the occupant of the office, Senator Sola Adeyeye.
Before the brief plenary ended, the Northern Senators Forum also clarified its statement on herdsmen and farmers clashes following an alleged media misrepresentation by a newspaper.
