TVC E, POLITICS – Ahead of the Rivers re-run elections, the Inspector General of Police says the Police has identified and put under watch notorious political thugs in Rivers State who may attempt to cause mayhem on Saturday.
At a joint news conference with the INEC Chairman, Solomon Arase, explained that recent politically linked killings in the state prompted this action.
He added that 6000 police operatives will be deployed to reinforce security across the three senatorial districts.
Addressing newsmen, the INEC boss, Mahood Yakubu, disclosed that sensitive materials are expected to reach the 23 local council areas in Rivers state latest Thursday.
Close to 25,000 adhoc staff have been recruited for the exercise.
