TVC E, POLITICS – Imo state governor, Owele Rochas Okorocha has backed President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to rule out payment of N5,000 monthly stipend to unemployed Nigerian youths.
Addressing State House correspondents after a private meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Okorocha said paying the allowance may push the youths to indulge in romantic relationships of multiple women and alcohol abuse.
Okorocha noted that the allowance would have been a good idea, but insists there are better ways to better these young people’s lives than giving them cash.
Earlier, the Vice President spokesman, Laolu Akande, had stated that Buhari never promised to pay the monthly allowance, noting that only those who are extremely poor will be paid a monthly stipend of N5,000.
