TVC E. Rita Dominic took to the street to fight for Gender equality for woman with other women.
She posted the walk on her instagram page tagged, Gender Equality is a HUMAN FIGHT NOT A FEMALE FIGHT- Frieda Pinto, and requested for comments saying: Let us keep talking about the issues. It is a good start but nobody is smarter than anyone here. Nobody should tell anybody what to and what not to do or believe. Respectfully State your point and let’s keep talking.
But it didn’t go down well with a fan , who in turn replies her saying:
”it’s admirable that you have picked a cause, what would however be fantastic rather than walking around in the hot sun would be to actually identify with organisations that actually empower women. These organisations fund women’ education, provide support for battered women, provide affordable healthcare, fund their business idea etc.
This in my opinion is the true embodiment of empowering women. A man does not have the right nor the power to decide for me whether I am equal to him or not neither is any human being. As a woman I do not feel as though I have been limited, I have been granted access to education, job opportunities as equal to any man”.
She continued, ”And if we are talking about abuse, Nigeria has sufficient laws to handle domestic violence, child abuse or violence in any form needless to say these actions go unchecked in our society everyday. So please let us go back to the drawing board and channel our grievances in the right direction, a new law will not stop abuse, it would just be another law added to the many we already have”.
Another Fan said, Women ve always been treated unfairly and I think this can only be stopped if mothers while raising their kids make sure both boys and girls are raised the same way,allowed to do domestic chores,taught how to treat each other so when they grow up,the society will have men who know how to treat ladies right n vice versa. Cos right now, most mothers make their boys feel more superior cos they treat them differently while the girls ve to do a lot cos according to the mothers it ll come in handy for them at their husband’s.
