Essence, Kate Henshaw to star in “Kumbaya”

TVC E, MOVIE – Nigerian singer and producer, Essence has concluded plans to make her debut in her first feature film titled “Kumbaya”, a source has disclosed.

The movie is a musical which will also star the likes of Kate Henshaw, Lanre Hassan (aka Iya Awero), Ronke Ojo and Yemi Solade.

The fiction story follows Alexander Coker who mysteriously gets pregnant. Coker’s father who is a church leader kicks her out. She ends up working with a club singer. As she rises in the music industry, she attempts to solve the mystery behind her pregnancy.

“Kumbaya” is produced by Ademilola Praise and directed by Bode Odeyemi.

Essence has previously starred in an educational short film.

She was once signed to Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe and Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye’s record label Kennis Music. She left in 2014 to work as an independent artist. She is known for songs like ‘Facebook love’ and ‘Giving it all’ which it was released in 2015. The artiste whose real name is Uwale Okoro has a degree in Theatre Arts.
