NSCDC uncovers illegal oil storage, arrests three

Operatives of the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Saturday uncovered a warehouse used by oil thieves.

Three suspects, according to the State Commandant of NSCDC, Mrs. Beatrice Irabor, were arrested and 250 drums of adulterated oil spinster inside the warehouse located in Warri South Local Government Area.

Irabor, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said 250 illegal drums of oil recovered in the warehouse contained suspected AGO adulterated oil, disclosing.

She said, “The illegal products were stocked in the warehouse from where the suspects often distribute to unsuspecting buyers. Men of the security agency, who acted on a tip-off, stormed the warehouse in one of the villages in the thick forest inside Warri South and arrested three of the suspects.

The state NSCDC commandant said the suspects were being interrogated by the command.

It will be recalled that the NSCDC operatives arrested six suspected bush burners and six suspected pipeline vandals in Sapele, Oghara, and Ogwashi-Uku two days ago.

Irabor said that the suspects, Sele Brisibeo, Efe Fejiro and Oleke Akpoefe would be charged to court on completion of investigation and warned that it would no longer be business as usual for pipeline vandals and other criminals in the state.

She said, “In the last few months, the NSCDC Delta State Command has recorded tremendous achievements in the arrest of pipeline vandals, bush burners and oil thieves. This is a warning to those involved in illegal activities in the state to steer clear as it would no longer be business as usual”.

In another development six persons alleged to be siphoning crude from illegally mounted valve on the crude line of Pan Ocean pipeline in Ogharefe, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state were on Saturday arrested by men of the 19 Battalion of the Nigerian Army during a patrol.

Four of the men believed to be from Edo State and two others from Delta State were arrested at about 3.30am at Pan Ocean pipleline, Ogharefe, Delta State.
