TVC E, SOCCER – After weeks of playing their home games on foreign land, El Kanemi FC of Maiduguri has declared that its home ground, Elkanemi Sports Centre is safe to host Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) games in the 2015/16 campaign.
It would be recalled that the team’s stadium was banned by the League Management Company (LMC) in the 2013/14 season due to security issues.
The Borno Army first played their home matches in Kano before they switched to the Karkanda Stadium in Kaduna.
Chairman of the club, Zanna Mohammed Mala revealed to futbalgalore.com that Maiduguri is safe for the hosting of top flight games in the country.
His belief is hinged on the fight against insurgency by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“President of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari has made huge efforts in curbing the monster known as “insurgency” in Maiduguri.”
“Our fans have missed NPFL action and they are yearning to see their team in action. In Nigeria, it’s only Kano, Aba and Ibadan that can match us in terms of spectatorship.”
The El-Kanemi boss added by commending the LMC for their massive efforts in repositioning the top flight game in Nigeria.
