TVC E, SPORTS – Nigeria’s captain to the 2016 African Nations Championship, Chima Akas, has joined NPFL side, Akwa United, ahead of start of the 2015/16 season for an undisclosed fee.
The deal to bring Akas to the Nest of Champions was concluded on Friday by The Promise Keepers, and he will stay at the club for two years with an option for another year.
Akas’ move to Akwa United puts to rest speculation over the future of the left-back, who had been reported to have joined NPFL champions, Enyimba.
Akwa United head coach, Maurice Cooreman believes the signing of Akas underscores a statement from the Uyo club’s ambition to compete for all titles this season.
