TVC E, NEWS – The president of the campaign for democracy, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin has called for the immediate release of Brigadier-General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, the son of the late human rights activist, Beko Ransome-Kuti by the Nigerian Military high command.
This demand was made during the 10th anniversary celebration of the late Beko ransome-kuti.
Political correspondent, Ayodele Ozugbakun reports that the campaign for democracy led other civil rights activist to the Beko memorial cenotaph located in Anthony village area of Lagos.
It was a platform to mirror democracy in Nigeria in the light of the contributions of the late Beko to the enthronement of democracy.
The convener, Dr Joe Okei Odumakin used the anniversary to call for the release of beko’s son who was recently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a military court.
A similar event was held at the airport hotel, lagos, by the Beko Ransome-Kuti memorial anniversary committee. A lecture titled sustaining Nigeria’s democracy :the realities,the challenges was delivered by a political science lecturer, Professor Sunny Akpotor.
Other colleagues of the late human rights activist took time to eulogise him.
Beko Ransome-kuti was the unarmed general of the people who led them in countless campaigns against the perpetuation of military rule and for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria .
