TVCE (SPORTS) – The national handball team have assured Nigerians that the team will not give anything to chance as they approach the final stages of their training for African Nations Handball Cup Championships in Egypt.
The Handball Federation of Nigeria has said 18 handballers will represent the country at the championships.
While the Nigerian contingent are housed in Group A alongside Egypt, African champions Algeria, Cameroon, Gabon and Morocco, Tunisia, Angola, Kenya, Congo, Libya and DR Congo have been drawn in Group B.
The event which will take place in Cairo between January 21 and 30, will serve as qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the 2017 World Men’s Handball Championship with two representatives from Africa.
Nigeria, who finished fourth in the Brazzaville 2015 All Africa Games, will open their campaign against Cameroon at the Cairo Stadium on January 21. They face their hosts on January 22 and take on Gabon the next day. Nigeria engage Morocco on January 25 and end their group assignments with a tough clash against Algeria the following day.
