As the countdown to the Local government election in Niger state begins no fewer than 6000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP have defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in Lapai Local government area of the state.
The former PDP members shifted political party at a rally addressed by the Niger state Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and other chieftains of the APC on Sunday evening.
The decampees were led by a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and one-time Special Adviser to former Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu, Alhaji Umar Rofyan, and a one-time member of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Usman Magaji.
The duo told the gathering of their new party men and women that they decided to leave the PDP for the PAC in order to join in the development of the state and bring about the needed change for their local government area.
