Honourable Dabo Adams from Okrika Constituency has been elected new speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
[dropcap]H[/dropcap]is election came following the resignation of the former speaker Ikunyi Owaji-Ubani barely two hours after the state’s 2016 budget was passed into law.
TVC NEWS Correspondent reports that the former speaker said his resignation was based on personal reasons.
He however expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during his time as speaker of the eight Assembly.
The election was conducted by the House after members elected Victor Ihuwo representing Port Harcourt constituency 3 as interim speaker.
The resignation of the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and appointment of a new one took place Immediately after the lawmakers passed the supplementary budget at around 7pm today.
The House has been adjourned to Monday, December the 21st, 2015.
