TVC E, SPORTS – The Nigeria Football Federation says its choice of the Ahmadu Bello stadium in Kaduna to host the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt is final.
Nigeria’s coach Sunday Oliseh had rejected Kaduna, opting for the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port Harcourt.
But Ademola Olajire, the media officer of the NFF, says Oliseh can only suggest where he wants to play, but cannot dictate the pace for the federation.
“I want to tell you without mincing words that the Eagles versus Egypt match would take place in Kaduna and that is final as regards the venue of the match,” Olajire told Goal.
“Well, what I can tell you is that the coach cannot tell the football federation where the match would be played. It is the prerogative of the NFF to pick match venues,” he said.
The Eagles host group leaders Egypt on the 23rd of March before traveling to Cairo, four days later for the reverse fixture.
Nigeria are second behind the Pharaohs in Group G’s qualifying zone with four points from two games.
