TVC E, SPORTS – Zambia and Mali have emerged as winners of Group D in the 2016 CAF African Championships held in Rwanda.
Zambia have registered two wins and are now the group’s leaders with six points having beaten Uganda 1-0 to qualify for the knockout stages.
Skipper Chris Katongo led by example to bag a winner for his side as he scored with a beautiful header on Saturday evening.
Zambia have six points and Mali have four points. This means both teams are through to the next stage whilst Zimbabwe and Uganda are both out of the tournament.
In the other group match earlier in the day, the Eagles of Mali have amassed four points after two matches with a win and a draw – they are runners up to Chipolopolo.
An 82nd minute goal from Moussa Sissoko saw Mali beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in their second group encounter in the afternoon.
