Don’t always expect free shows from gospel artiste – Tim Godfrey

This conversation began while he was speaking about his ‘Fearless Concert’ where he invited foreign gospel artistes. He pointed out that the program was about him pouring out himself, looking back at how he became who he is today.

He went on to talk about how people expect gospel artiste to do free shows without considering that the artiste put a lot of time, money and resources into making the show or concert a success.

” That’s the shame about gospel business, people focus on the ministry part and forget that money goes into it. I think it’s totally wrong , it costs so much. As a gospel artiste, when you go for events, not so much is payed, we always rely on God.

I don’t understand why should people say it’s for God, don’t charge money.

We have to take care of artiste, security, feeding, lightening, camera, promotion and so on for the program.

In America, South Africa and so on, if you do a free concert, people will not come because they feel like there will be nothing interesting there, until it is a payed concert before people come.

These things are not done in Nigeria. They say corporate world cannot do gospel thing, I don’t believe that. They say all of these secular TV and radio stations cannot play gospel music but they played mine over and over again. I think all these things are just big lies.”

He then hinted on his impending concert for 500 people at 20 thousand Naira only will be coming up on the 8th of October.
