A 26 years old student was arrested by the Anambra state police command as a suspected ritualist who allegedly attempted to sacrifice his father, two siblings and five of his Facebook friend in Ifite-Akwa, Anambra State.
The suspect, Chukwuemeka Okafor in his desperation to get rich at all cost obtained hundred thousand from his Father under the pretense of using it to set up a business, whereas, it was to settle one Zaki (native doctor) for the ritual that includes his father.
The suspect on interrogation confessed that he was roped into the act after he was defrauded of four hundred thousand naira by one of his friends who had promised to take him to Dubai.
” Amidst these frustrations, I sought for the assistance of one Zaki who is very influential in the society and he told me to join him after revealing the secret, saying he was warned not to disclose such secrets to anybody, otherwise, his life would be terminated” he confessed .
Exhibit recovered include;
1 Eight photograph of victims,including three members of his family and five Facebook friends.
2.Cash sum of one hundred thousand naira
The commissioner of police, CP Garba Baba Umar in his press statement said
” Suspect has voluntarily confessed to the offense and is assisting the police with useful information that could aid investigation after which he would be charged to court for prosecution”
The Father of the suspect, Kenneth Okafor, retired civil servant and his elder brother, Henry Okafor, had pleaded that he should be forgiven, describing him as a good boy and the hope of the family.
