Meningitis outbreak : Death toll climbs to 813

The Federal Government  says 813 people have now died from the Cerebra-spinal Meningitis outbreak in the country.

Health Minister, Professor Isaac Adewole, confirmed this on Wednesday while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Mr Adewole assured that efforts were being made towards containing the outbreak, particularly in the most affected states, Zamfara and Sokoto.

On his part, the Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi disclosed that Council had approved an additional N5billion Naira for the construction of the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crines Commission (EFCC)

The minister explained that the change in the cost of the construction of the anti-graft agency’s headquarters was due to the foreign exchange fluctuation.

Amaechi also disclosed that the council equally approved the lease of what it called “fast-going vessels” for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
