TVC E, TECH – Video streaming service Netflix has announced that it’s now live in 130 new countries, including Nigeria.

Prior to the announcement of the global push, Netflix was enjoyed in just 60 countries.

The decision to go global announced by Chief Executive Reed Hastings is to counter slowing growth in the United States.

Some of the other countries that will be able to access Netflix include Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and India, Hastings said during a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The service has previously said it aimed to reach 200 countries by the end of 2016.

However, all shows will not be available immediately to some Netflix fans.

Netflix’s arrival in Nigeria will mean stiffer competition for pay-TV platforms like DSTV, though it’s too early to say how it will affect market share.
