Ife ethnic clash : Oba Ogunwusi inaugurates truth and reconciliation committee

In a bid to forestall a recurrence of the ethnic clash in Ile Ife, a truth and reconciliation committee has been set up by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

A press conference was addressed by members of the truth and reconciliation committee to keep the public abreast of the efforts by the communities to give succour to those affected and design strategies to prevent a recurrence of such unrest.

The committee which comprises representatives of all the ethnic groups in Ife and some prominent Ife indigenes condemned the clash in its entirety.

They want to live in peace as Nigerians irrespective of their differences.

Meanwhile, succour is gradually coming the way of those who were affected by clash.

Prominent Ife indigenes have begun donating relief materials to victims on the both sides.

One of them is the senator representing Ife-east senatorial district in the National Assembly, Babajide Omoworare who blamed the clash on lack of mechanism for conflict resolution.

Senator Babajide Omoworare assured that the issue will be raised as a matter of urgent importance on the floor of the Senate.
