NOUN amends Act to allow students enroll into law school, partake in NYSC

The Nigerian Senate is set to amend the enabling act of the National Open University to allow its students enrol into law schools and partake in the the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

The Senate committee on Tertiary Education disclosed this at a hearing on the issue following a huge outcry by students and influential members of the society over the non-admissibility of NOUN students by the Council on Legal Education and the NYSC.

At the public hearing, the National Universities Commission (NUC) said it was not opposed to the move as open universities globally are forms of mediated education and are not solely based on correspondence any longer.
