Poor funding claims : Dalung hits back at wrestling federation

Solomon Dalung

Nigeria Sports minister Solomon Dalung has rejected insinuations by the Wrestling Federation of Nigeria over poor funding for wrestlers ahead of international sporting events.
Nigeria faces an imminent ban from international competition by the World Wrestling Federation.

This is because Nigeria is on the brink of failing to get her wrestlers in Baku, Azerbaijan for the Golden Grand prix.

The Nigerian Wrestling Federation say they are not getting the attention of the sports ministry in funding the wrestlers for the competition scheduled to start on Thursday and some of the athletes are still running around trying to borrow money to attend the event.

Nigeria has four wrestlers who are qualified to represent the continent at the event but may not go due to lack of fund.
