Emma Watson asks women to ‘swing’ the US election by turning up to vote

Emma Watson has implored women to vote in the US election, adding that it is “excruciating” she cannot vote for the president of her “second home”.

She said: “Goodness, I wish I could cast a vote” as she said America should vote for a president who cares about women and girls.

The actress appeared to make a dig at Donald Trump when she wrote “In 2014, I tweeted Desmond Tutu’s quote: ‘Men and boys, we show our manhood by how we treat our women’. The American men I know and love know this.

This appears to reference the allegations that Donald Trump sexually harassed and assaulted various women.

She also wrote in the statement, which she posted on Twitter: “The next president will be able to make decisions about women, about their bodies, about how they are treated at work, on university campuses and at school, about how men treat women and about their rights as citzens.

“These decisions affect how young people form their ideas of gender”.
