The international human rights community has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to apologize over his comment that his wife, Aisha, belongs in the kitchen.
Buhari had on Saturday in Germany said that Aisha “belongs in the kitchen, the living room, and the ‘other room’.”
Buhari’s comments have been described as sexist and anti-women.
The first to react, albeit, non-verbally, was German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who was standing beside Buhari when he made the comment.
Merkel had simply glared at Buhari and chuckled.
