Mayowa Ahmed’s family explains why she was buried in SA

TVC E. The family of the late Mayowa Ahmed, the celebrated Ovarian Cancer patient who died in a South African hospital after a prolonged battle with the disease, have come out to explain that the decision to bury the 31-year-old lady over there had nothing to do with finances but according to Islamic injunctions.

The 31-year-old Ahmed who lost her battle with the disease on Sunday, August 21, 2016, was buried in the country the following day, raising speculations that the family did not want to spend the funds raised by kind-hearted Nigerians for her treatment, to bring back her remains.

But a close family source has debunked the new insinuations, saying those who painted the family black during the fundraising by saying it was a grand scheme to scam Nigerians, are the ones spreading the new rumour to still disparage the family.

The source said:

“Shukurat Mayowa Ahmed died in South Africa and has since been buried according to Muslim rites, not that there was no money to fly her corpse back to Nigeria.

After all, the police have lifted the embargo on her bank account to enable the family to access enough fund to take care of her and every other expense concerning her.”

“And now that she couldn’t survive the ailment, the best thing was to bury her immediately in South Africa as she was a Muslim. I think that was what happened.

May her soul rest in peace.”
