Coach of Nigeria’s Under-23 team, Samson Siasia, says sheer will and fighting spirit saw his team earn a 5-4 win against Japan in their first Group B match of the 2016 Olympics on Friday.

Iraq was also impressive in their goalless draw with Denmark.

But Honduras defeated Algeria by three goals to two in a thrilling encounter.

Germany forced Mexico to a 2-2 draw, while Portugal defeated Argentina 2 nil.
