The organisers of the African Basketball League ended the first season last weekend but it appears the party has just began reports Pius Ayinor
The mood was that of celebration as the African Basketball League ended its first season put together as a test-run by the franchise owners. The setting in Abidjan on Saturday, May 28 was largely for party after the final game had been played and the champions have emerged.
In the typical world of sports, the champions would have been in cloud nine with the runners up sulking and wondering where they got it wrong. But it wasn’t in that pattern as the various groups gathered at the national gymnasium in Abidjan had different reasons to celebrate. In one night everyone became a winner and it was so for many reasons. It was a short season with just six teams and now all the participants believe it could be bigger next season and that the league could become a lot much bigger as the years come by.
