Ondo doctors threaten strike over unpaid salaries

Medical Doctors in Ondo state have threatened to go on an indefinite strike after the expirationof twenty-one day ultimatum given to the state government over non payment of four months salaries.

The doctors under the auspices of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) said they can no longer bear the situation where government will continue not to pay their salaries.

The Doctors had two weeks ago issued an ultimatum to the state government to pay their salaries.

The state government is the medical doctors like other workers in the public service, four months salary.

Addressing reporters in Akure, the state Chairman of the NMA, Dr. Bamidele Betiku said members of the union are tired of a situation where they won’t be able to cater for their families due to non
payment of their salaries .

Betiku who noted that the Doctors have been pushed to the wall by the government, hence there is no going back on the strike after the expiration of the ultimatum.
