Davido Opens Up on His Personal Life and Music

Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist, Davido, continues to dominate the music scene with chart-topping hits and candid reflections on his life. In an insightful interview on The Breakfast Club, he shared his experiences with relationships, revealing his commitment to a drama-free home despite his colorful past. With five children from four women, he vowed, “I’m not cheating again,” as part of his personal transformation.

Davido also addressed the challenges he’s faced, including attacks from fans loyal to other artists. He described himself as one of the most disrespected and attacked Nigerian artists, recounting how some of his biggest critics were simply seeking attention and profit. The relentless criticism, he admitted, is so intense it sometimes impacts his family, especially his wife.

Touching on his relationship with other Afrobeats stars, Davido revealed that while he once had a personal relationship with Wizkid and Burna Boy, collaboration is not out of the question, though it’s often hindered by external factors.

On the broader global music scene, Davido noted that the conversation now extends beyond the “Big 3,” mentioning rising stars like Rema and Ayra Starr, who are helping elevate Afrobeats globally.

Davido also discussed the cultural differences between Nigerian and American marriages, reflecting on how African family dynamics often influence unions. He shared details of his highly publicized traditional wedding, describing it as a nationwide celebration, and looked ahead to his upcoming white wedding in Miami in August 2025, marking a new chapter in his relationship after overcoming personal challenges and loss.
