WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature called “Favorites” to help users quickly find and connect with the contacts and groups that matter most. The “Favorites” filter allows users to keep all their favorite chats under one roof for easy access.
The feature, which started rolling out on Tuesday, will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks. It includes a “Favorites” section in the calls tab, enabling users to speed-dial their favorite contacts directly without navigating through recent call logs or searching their contact book.
To add a contact or group to your favorite list, simply select the “Favorites” filter from your chats screen or tap the “Add favorite” option after selecting the particular contact or group from the calls tab. You can also add a chat to your favorites by long-tapping it and selecting “Add to favorite.” Additionally, you can manage your favorite contacts and groups by going to Settings > Favorites > Add to Favorite, and reorder them based on your preference at any time.
WhatsApp has been testing this feature since February, initially spotted on iOS and the web, and later on Android in April. This update comes three months after WhatsApp introduced chat filters, which initially included “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups.” The addition of “Favorites” makes the chat filters even more useful, as users previously relied on alternative methods to quickly call or video chat with their favorite contacts via WhatsApp.
The “Favorites” filter is a welcome addition to WhatsApp, providing a convenient way for users to prioritize their most important contacts and groups, ensuring quick and easy access to the people and conversations that matter most.
